Preserve the Planet, Win $5,000

National Geographic's 2nd Annual Film Contest Is Underway

By TDG Community

The National Geographic Channel is now accepting entries for its second annual Preserve Our Planet Film + PSA Contest.

Nat Geo is once again asking students to submit short films and PSAs that promote and encourage eco-friendly behavior. This year’s core idea is “Together We Can Make a Difference.”

A winner in each category will be selected by a panel of judges and online voting will determine the Audience Award in each category. All winners will receive a cash prize of up to $5,000 and will be flown to Washington DC to join an annual gathering of National Geographic explorers where their video will be shared.

The Daily Green's Community News section is a forum for our audience to get the word out about issues that matter to them, enlist support, get help and advice, celebrate successes or share humor. The best submissions are personal (why I started this venture) short and to the point (400 words or so) and written in a style that speaks directly to the audience as peers (not like an ad or press release). E-mail submissions to and include "community news" in the subject line. Photos are also welcome, provided the submitter has rights to publish the image. Be sure to include credit and caption information.
