Hungry Baby Robin

I found a robin's nest a couple years back and watch the family from the time they were eggs till the day they took flight! An amazing transition!

Spring! Spring!

A Flash of Color

When azaleas bloom in Louisiana they spring forth in glorious colors. They don't last long, and usually a good rain will kill that flash of color. Right now they are still going strong but on the decline. This was a beautiful bloom I caught with the sun behind it at the Jungle Gardens of Avery Island, where Tabasco is made.

We planted this lilac five years ago today along with the ashes of one of our dogs. We picked Wonderblue because it was a little more 'manly' than the Little Miss Kim that we already had in our yard. This year, Spank's Lilac gave us a stunning show of pink, purple and blue blooms.

Tiger Swallowtail on Lilac

Our lilac bush bloomed early this year...practically over night! We went from winter to instant spring in the Blue Ridge mountains, and this bush was covered with these beautiful fragrant purple and pink flowers.

Baby Stewey

Baby Stewey, our first baby goat home birth. Born to proud momma Sophia, a Nubian we bred with a goat from a nearby farm. Anybody want their very own baby goat stud-to-be? How about fresh goat milk, butter, yogurt or kefir?  Yum.

This one was pretty easy. She was happy and calm when we put her to bed at 8:30 p.m. and in the morning when we went to feed her at 7:20 a.m. there was the baby, healthy and clean.

Signs of Spring

A bit early for blooming flowers...Studio City, California, January 18, when it was supposed to be cold and rainy in LA. This is the time of year when the trees that do have leaves and flowers are pretty bare. However, this shows that things are happening a lot earlier than they are supposed to be.
